A staff of officers from the Income Tax division on Wednesday raided the house of a businessman in Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Locals stated that the tax officers, who reached the businessman’s house with CRPF personnel, had been initially denied entry. Nonetheless, the officers had been later allowed entry, following which they began the raid on the businessman’s house.
In keeping with locals, the house belongs to Bijan Halder and his household has been staying there for nearly 15 years. Halder lives together with his spouse and son in the house.
Sources stated that the raid is being carried out by the tax division in reference to cattle smuggling. His title had emerged earlier after CBI had interrogated Enamul Haq, who has already been arrested in connection to the smuggling case.
Whereas Halder runs a jute enterprise, tax officers are attempting to find out whether or not cash from cattle smuggling has been used in his enterprise.
