Australia opener Marcus Harris will replace Will Pucovski who failed to recuperate from a shoulder damage in time for the decisive fourth Test towards India, skipper Tim Paine confirmed on Thursday.
Pucovski failed a health check on Thursday (January 14) in Brisbane, forward of the ultimate Test of the sequence. Harris, nevertheless, has not performed Test cricket for the reason that Ashes in 2019.
With Pucovski’s unavailability, Marcus is the fifth opening batsman required by Australia within the four-match sequence. Marcus Harris will open the innings alongside senior batsman David Warner for the Australian aspect within the fourth Test.

Pucovski suffered a shoulder subluxation damage whereas diving within the discipline on the fifth day of the third Test match towards India on Monday. Pucovski had opened the batting with David Warner within the Sydney Test and scored a fifty in his first innings of the sport.
Harris wasn’t a part of the unique Test squad however was added following the accidents to Pucovski (concussion) and David Warner (groin) which dominated the pair out of the opening two matches. He was then retained when Joe Burns was dropped after the second Test in Melbourne.
“Will gained’t play tomorrow,” Paine informed reporters on the eve of the Gabba check.
“He tried to prepare this morning. He didn’t fairly come up.
“Marcus Harris will replace him … We’re wanting ahead to seeing what he’ll do.”
